August 23, 2025 Week 4 lectures done. Best 2/12 assignments to be considered. Honestly, this is a second course in algebra. But I am trying to cover a lot of first course things from Dumit and Foote. So yeah, my main preparation is from DF, but this course can be a good thing for certification. I will try my best to get it, but shouldn’t jeopardize my understanding of things. Just finished reading Symmetric groups and Matrix groups from Df, few exercises left. Long way to reach Sylow theorems (that’s where the course is right now!) Of course, the course is a rapid revision of stuff mostly. Roughly for the next two weeks, my pact is to do as much DF as possible to reach further. I want to understand Groups properly, I need to appreciate algebra from a fundamental perspective! I will be able to do it only if I spend time on it on my own.

July 21, 2025 Began the NPTEL course on SWAYAM. Covered basic motivation and example of groups. Next is lecture 3/5 of Week 1 on order and conjugacy. Week 0’s prerequisites assignment is done ✅. A couple of doubts in that assignment — will sort them out soon.
